Alejandro Jodorowsky needs your help!

Alejandro Jodorowsky - the legendary cult filmmaker behind Santa Sangre, El Topo and The Holy Mountain - needs your help. After years trying to raise funding for big new projects King Shot and Son Of El Topo, Jodorowsky is moving on to something more personal: Danza De La Realidad, an autobiographical picture based on his own childhood and teenaged years.

Having had no luck with conventional film financing methods in recent years, Jodorowsky is taking this one to the streets and trying the crowd funding method: Put a hundred dollars into the film and you'll receive a special cut of the finished movie on DVD.

For details check out the official website - sorry, Spanish only - and the video.

Seriously, what the hell? The guy is passionate about his vision, and unfortunately he's never been seen as bankable, so he's doing what he has to do. He's been screwed time and time again trying to get new projects off the ground. I don't understand what's so irritating about him trying to raise money a different way.

I find it really weird none of the studios will put any cash into making his films.

His earlier work has generated quite a cult following and that alone would mean the films would have some sort of fairly decent projected income. Not saying they would make billions or anything but enough to warrant funding something.

Yeah, same here. I never really understood it. El Topo, The Holy Mountain, and Santa Sangre are some of the most revered cult films ever. You'd think someone would find that worth financing.

If Lars Van Trier can get his films made, you'd think Jodorowsky would be able to.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. It's puzzling.

Can't blame a person for pursuing their dream and vision, though.

Think about it-he is taking his fans for MUGS-so it's not good enough to buy his films and/or merchandise he now wants us to FUND his films with our hard earned cash. I can't understand how anyone can not see this for what it is-GREED-why doesn't he fund HIS films himself has he never heard of self sacrifice???-why try to manipulate his fans into doing it for him.
