New kind of Zombie story

The history channel just aired a show that talked about a possible "zombie like" infection that broke out during the black plague around 1350AD. The whole idea of flesh eating mindless zombies may have come from a real outbreak of a fungal paracite during a time when sanitation was ripe for disease and there was no knowledge of germs.

There's a new novel out that talks about this called "Life to the Dead" and the history channel show is called "Zombies: A Living History"

There are several types of infections that cause animals to behave like zombies: Cordycept fungi and this one are two:

There is some evidence that some of these infections can even animate seemingly dead organisms by "artificially perpetuating" parts of the organisms cells.

One thing I stay away from are the zombies. Actually, two things... Vampires and zombies. Not saying there is anything wrong with zombies but I feel Romero did all that there is to do with them.

*Seriously, what are you going to do with a zombie story. Gore, story and characters and Gore. Sad thing is my favorite zombie flick is Return of the Living Dead.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kIAB3yT8OAReally, that's all I need to say. However, if it's in your heart then go with it brother/sister.

Bummer I can't find the Dance scene on you tube. This will have to do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHww_HJt1qk

I don't have anything against zombies but I just don't write them. It's boring. Then again, I'm not mainstream. At least in my writing.

That's why I write about giant man eating worms, men with tapes in their heads, Fuck Machines, and brain eating ameobas (spelling), to name a few things. Oh, and organ stealing cult sucking freaks.

It's like if and I stress IF I watch an episode from walking dead I secretly hope the zombies kill them all and play a rock concert with their organs. Is that so wrong... I guess that's why I remain independent and will die in obscurity except to a small group of peeps.

*True story. I walk into a book store to pitch my independent book and the owner goes if it's zombies or vampires I can sell the hell out of that. I looked at him and said no. Then the guy goes well I have to read it to see if it's okay. Wait, um hello so if it happened to be zombies or vampires then he would sell it without question. Something is wrong with that...

Mainstream is the death of creativity!

*Oh ya, I write a mean dystopian society.

Possibly! I guess it depends on how you look at it.
