The Punisher sucked.

Did anyone else waste their time on this one? I've been a huge fan of the comic books for the past 15 years, but this movie was so damn stupid I don't know if I can ever look at one of my favorite comic characters in the same light again.

Problem number 1, they picked the wrong guy for the part. The dude from Deep Blue Sea? Come on. I don't see him as a tough ass vigilante at all.

Problem number 2, way too much sappy shit. The period of The Punisher's life that he had a family is told (in the comic books) through brief flashbacks and dialogue. You don't really ever see him, with his wife and kid as a big happy family. For some reason they saw fit to fill the first third of the film with sappy ass shit. I almost walked out.

Problem number 3, not only did they misuse the storylines in the film, they completely ruined them for future films. The people that live in his apartment complex (Joan, Dave, and Bumpo) are all key elements to an awesome storyline. (In the comics.) They didn't hardly do anything with this story except take a few characters from it and make them stupid. But the result is that they can't use them (in a future film with a good director) even if they wanted to.

The action was mediocre at best. And for a Punisher movie that's totally unacceptable. The scene where he fought The Russian was the only part of the whole film that I enjoyed.

All in all, I would give this 1 star out of 10. Don't waste your time in the theatre. Don't bother renting it when it comes out. Go get the older Dolph Lundgren version, it's a lot better. (And I would only give that one like 3 and a half stars out of 10, but still, it's much better.)

I know. I know. I thought it looked like crap from the commercials too but I still go and see every comic book (or horror) movie that comes out.

Hulk was pretty terrible.

Daredevil was pretty bad, but slightly better than Hulk. (IMO)

Spiderman was a pretty fun movie. A little sappy, but so are the comics.

X-Men was pretty good but not great. I really liked X-Men 2 though because they finally decided to make Wolverine into the badass that he is.

LXG was so far off base from the comic book. I thought it was pretty boring compared to the comic.

I didnt think it was that bad, actually i enjoyed it. But again i never read the comics and was never into the character, you probably feel about the punisher movie, the way i feel about the spawn movie, both basterdized versions of the comics they are based on.

Anywho, i went into it expecting SHIT, so i came out a little impressed. Agreed the russian seen fucking rocked, i was laughing so hard at that part. The ending with the flaming cars was so lame tho:rolleyes:

How could I forget about Spawn? Yeah that sucked too!

I haven't seen Hellboy yet and to tell you the truth I'm a little leery of it even though it's getting good reviews.

I'm not overly excited about SpiderMan 2 either. It might be okay. (Hey at least Bruce Campbell will be in it a bit so you know a few scenes will rock.)
