This doll is going to give me nightmares!

Ok I was just browsing Norwegian qxl when I came across this freaky doll. What amazes me is that it was not make to be scary, sometime a little girl played with this thing. Seriously this doll will haunt my dreams.

Is this an antique or a newly manufactured item?

The doll in antique as far as I read from the listing. And yes it is not very politically correct, but that is not what scares me, just look at that doll's eyes, it looks like it want to eat your soul. :P

There are some strange dolls out there-in the UK we used to have "golliwogs" and they were so offensive they were eventually taken off the market-even my eldest sister had one!

I'm only 20 and I'm sure I remember those being on marmalade jars when I was younger!

Yeah they were on marmalade or jam jars-I think my eldest sister may still have hers-I'm sure you can still buy them as collectables as they sold a lot at the time.

Yeah it was Robertson's jam...

from Wiki:

Robertson's officially 'retired' Golly in 2002. The company had found that Golly was, on the whole, no longer popular with the children of families, although the scheme was still successful with adult collectors.

Robertson's always insisted that they did not retire the Golly because of political pressure (the caricature is now generally considered to be racist), but simply for commercial reasons: Ginny Knox, brand director at Robertson's said, "We are retiring Golly because we found families with kids no longer necessarily knew about him. We are not bowing to political correctness, but like with any great brand we have to move with the times
