I'd go for a James Herbert myself, but if you demand a King here are my favourites...

Night Shift (a good collection of short stories)

Misery

Firestarter

The Stand

Just make sure you avoid anything by Dean Koontz

Alley Chick: What?!?
Spike: I mean, honestly, what kind of retard wears heels like that in a dark alley? Take two steps, break your bloody ankle.
Alley Chick: I was just trying to get home.
Spike: Take a cab, you moron. And on the way, if a stranger offers you candy, don’t get in the van! Stupid cow.

Thing is people never respond to the posts on the book forum..Just check it out and while your there respond to some of my posts. I just finished Infernal Angel by edward lee id recommend that. Or the books of blood by barker. Or the Gunslinger by king. pm me if you want any more knowledge on books.

Not really horror, but pick up something from Neil Gaiman. He rocks my socks.
