Awesome news. Corman directed and/or produced some of my all time favorite films. It's about time Hollywood recognised his contributions.

Fantastic!!

So glad the Academy is recognizing him. Even beyond his own work, he's started the careers of SO many amazing artists that modern cinema would really be nothing without him. I was lucky enough to attend a Q&A with him at the Rue Morgue festival, and he really is an amazing guy. Can't wait to hear his acceptance speech!

Thumbs up Awesome news!

A very well deserved recognition. His works surely can play an inspiring role for new visionary film makers all over the world. It'll also be a great day for vintage horror movie fans to cherish & see finally honoring an Horror Movie icon in such a great platform.

For the last few years I have been missing the whole OSCAR show on TV somehow; but I won't dare to miss at least his portion of the program for sure this time.

About time. A much-deserved one too.

Hearty congrats to Roger!

So true!

As it turns out, Corman will be receiving the award on Saturday, along with Lauren Bacall and Gordon Willis. I hope he gets to give a speech and I also hope he gets recognized at the big awards ceremony in the spring. But as of Saturday, he will have that statuette in his possession.

I almost got to meet him a couple of times. (It's kind of weird that I didn't). At one film convention, I was on a film panel opposite a Q&A he did, so I didn't get to hear his Q&A. A couple years later, he came to a party in the hospitality suite of a publisher I've worked with, but he kind of walked in and out a few times talking on his cell phone. I was talking to friends so didn't really pay close attention. I just knew there was an older guy on his cell phone. Later found out it was Corman. Doh!
