Old News, But Good News.

Just browsing wikipedia and I discovered that there was a second sequel to Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective. :rolleyes: I had never heard of it before. Apparently it was released in March.

Well, it just looked awful. Then I remembered other such straight to DVD sequels to somewhat entertaining films. The last two sequels to Doctor Dolittle, Daddy Day Camp (all sequels of Eddie Murphy films. I know, I called them somewhat entertaining but if you ignore him, they are. Or at least, they seemed it when I was younger).

So, I looked at straight to DVD releases on wikipedia and it had a list of all Disney direct to video releases. And guess what I found;
Quote:
On June 21, 2007 Disney announced that following the release of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning and Tinker Bell, they would no longer be making direct to video sequels to their theatrical releases. Many executives were upset over the lack of quality of the sequels and felt that they undercut the value of the originals.
DISNEY WILL NOT BE DOING ANYMORE DIRECT TO DVD SEQUELS OF THEATRICAL FILMS!!!

Of course, on the list I do see Dumbo II, which is set to be released in 2010. But other than it's year of release and name on that list, I can't see any info on it elsewhere. But finally, we don't have to see that these ghastly sequels have been made! I know none of us watch them (I hope) but still, it's just annoying!

Eddie Murphy was great till he started making kids flicks. Trading Places and 48 Hrs are brilliant and he was one of the best standup comedians of the 80s. Most dudes of that era are so fucking washed up now... it's kinda sad.

most comedians stop being funny when they stop snorting coke/drinking heavily

the best part about this new disney deal is that robin williams will not have ANY work anymore.

He hasn't. They replaced him after the first Aladdin.
