Marines.

So I've been thinking about how i can make something of myself since I have nothing going for me right now. A friend of mine told me about how the Marine Corps changed his life. I researched it on the web and found out alot of good things about joining. I know i have the ability to become a great Marine! Anyone on here join the Army, Marines, Navy, etc. Or have fought in war? Im really interested in the stories I have read on the internet i wonder if anyone on here has any.

I am a Navy brat
I would never go willingly into the armed forces.
And if I had brain damage and enlisted way back when I was young, I would have waited to retire before starting a family.

That being said, if you want opportunities...go for it.
You can get a great college education and get to see alot of the world.

And you get lots of sex...the uniform thing....

The lyrics of this song sums up what think:

DYSTOPIA - Jarhead Fertilizer

eduacation stable career

join the army

become a murderer

kill for god and country
return to be a hero

to tell you the truth

i hope you dont come back

courage

it takes a big man to push a button

fight with your honor

like shotting children

and cutting their parents throats

go to the frontline

watch your friends

get cooked by napalm

and theyre murderers just like you

getting education by killing people too

bodies blown apart

you feel a sharp pain in your stomach

now youve lost both of your legs to a grenade

blood and vomit spew from your mouth

no career education

and youre sent home in a doggy bag

waste your life

while taking others lives away from them

left so empty

just a pile of shit to me

and your parents looking stupid

their son reduced to a pile of shit and dog tags

but he did what he was programmed to do

such a good soldier

i hope youre fucking proud of your son

fuck your son i hope he fucking dies

My mother was a marine. She wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Hmm....the navy...

Sounds more up Posher's alley, if you ask me.

your timing couldnt be better.. 3 years ago i would have said "you will most likely end up in iraq at some point which means you will most likely be shot at at siome point"

Now with obama, i doubt you will have to worry about anythign like that. That being said, I have mixed feelings about it. I grew up an Air Force brat, from birth to 17. there was a lot of good and a lot of bad.

These days, there is a good chance you could get a position doing something you love. Figure out what it is you like and ask yourself if they offer opportunities for that; if the marines dont, one of the other branches might.

Dont let anyone scare you, make an informed decision. there is a strong "boys club" aspect to the whole thing which can be good and bad, but its been my experience in the corporate world that a military background can help.

There is an assumption by a lot of people that military = disciplined, ESPECIALLY marines. plus, military guys even from different brnaches, will stick together a lot of times.

In some cases, it can work against you; some peopel hate the military and will discriminate, but that is what the court system is for ;)
