Halloween House Dress up

Alright so this is my wife and I's first Halloween in our own house. She told me since this is the holiday I love so much, that I can do what I pretty much want.

Some Ideas I was thinking, one : I have a big bay window in the front of the house. I was going to get a big sheet of plywood and hang it covering the window, or should I use 2x10s to go all the way down the window? Around the front of the house there is a chain length fence, I was thinking of getting "police : do not cross" tape, and putting it through the middle of the fence, wrapping the whole front side. Inside the gate is a concrete walk way that goes up 3 steps and onto our porch. before the steps I was going to do a "body outline" in the white chalk. (is that to corny?) From here i'm stuck any suggestions??

One more question, how all out do you guys go?

Well, of course you need some dead bodies, scarecrows, coffins, jack o lanterns and ghosts hanging around.

Spooky sound effects as well.

I don't do any heavy decorating or dressing up since I'm busy with my marathon broadcasts.

build a box with a hole cut out on top and have someone sit in it with there headpoking through. cover around the neck with old towels to give it that "snug look".(scatter candy in there too) drench the top of the box and old towels with blood and place a lid big enough for the stunt head to breath.

sit next to the box in a rocking chair dressed as michael myers and when kids come for treats, you slowly lift the lid and thats when the "head" gives them his last dying argghh...h.h.h. you select the sugar and dispense, covering up the propped again ready for the next scare.

dont forget light dimness, soundtrack and fog if you have a machine.

one of my favorite things to do is set up a graveyard scene in the front lawn.

a few tombstones with clever epitaphs, some wire coat hangers, sleeves from old shirts, newspaper, and gloves make wonderful zombie hands reaching through the ground.

you can even put a mask over an old t-shirt or something to make the face poking out, too. it's a lot of fun to do and very easy to get creative with your spread.

You could get some falke blood and spray it on the pieces of plywood before you stick it on, and have a light illuminating it. Maybe from a pumpkin.

I like the idea, my wife did want me to do a graveyard. At ribcut, that sounds like it would scare the hell out of the kids, all I did a few years back was sit still dressed up as freddy they didn't know if it was real our not and when they started up the steps I would get up and it made a few kids cry, it was funny, but cute. Nice addition to the plywood ferret!

No problem.

And if you want to go all out buy one of those fake arms (they seem to sell them around halloween), cut a hole in the plywood and then stick it through like somebody trying to get out. Put blood on the arm too!

My neighbors put witches on the roof, zombies looking out of windows, several graveyards with corpses poping out randomly, ghosts sitting on their porch, skeletons hanging from trees and the whole family dresses up in scary costumes scaring the kids(ok, me as well:o )
I forget what they hand out, but it's much cooler than candy. I'll ask my kids tomorrow.
The entire yard is all lit up in mood lighting and there's creepy sound effects everywhere.
It has got to be the neatest Halloween house I have ever seen.
