So.... you know how there has been lots and lots of remakes lately? Guess what, they are doing it again, but not with any kind of older film, oh no, its one that hasn't even been out a year yet. I mean, I though how they remade The Ring 4 years after Ringu originally came out in Japan was bad, but my god.... They are making a [REC] remake, and its supposed to be out this october in the US. And I'm sorry, but that just pisses me off. [REC] was a great fucking movie, and now Hollywood is going to anally rape it, without giving the movie a chance to get to most veiwers in the US. That shit just pisses me off. And the worst part is that it looks like its almost shot for shot the same.
Original ->http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/ Remake -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1082868/ Edit: oops. Wrong url for the original.

there is a HUGE percentage of americans that will never see [rec] because it isnt an english movie.
foriegn films have been remade into english versions for years and years - for this very reason. the list is too big to type.

I honestly just hope that the remake will force Netflix and American video stores to stock the original. I have yet to see it.

I'm not like most Americans.I can watch silent films, foreign films, with a different audio track other then English.I'm not picky, all I care about is the story. But that's bullshit because I wanted to see (REC) not a bad remake.BUT,It will most likely be bad.

I realize the "need" for it and all, but it's really sad, because these remakes-so-the-audience-doesn't-have-to-read-subtitles films are usually poop nuts.

I agree, I haven't seen it either, and its pretty damn frustrating with everyone that HAS seen it saying how great it is. :(

Yeah well, if somebody isn't willing to see a good movie because of the fact that it has subtitles, then they don't deserve to see a good movie. I hope the remake is poo-nuts.

I hate having to read subtitles or a bad audio track, but what I hate more is crappy remakes. FUCK YOU HOLLYWOOD!

I think part of the problem, seriously, is that people are culturally constrained.....they can't deal with processing real products of culture from other countries, don't want to take the time to appreciate what "those other people" are doing. So these reprocessed films get made so that the films seem "unforeign." Grow a backbone, people! Watch some foreign movies and stop complaining!

I hope the English language remake is great. I can't comprehend why anyone would want any film to be bad. I want every film I see to be a good film - they cleary don't always come out that way, but I go into every film rooting for it.
Remakes happen. some good, some bad.
