Talking Nightmare Man (1977)

I've started reviewing movies on my Blog (www.kraftcreation.blogspot.com).
Comments welcome!
Here's a sample-

Nightmare Man
And yet another "film to die for".
A young bride orders an African fertility mask and gets a devil mask instead. When the creature from the mask begins to haunt her dreams her Brazilian husband takes her on a drive to the country to help her relax. But the car runs out of gas in the woods, leaving her alone with her fears as hubby goes in search of help. Meanwhile, four friends are staying in a nearby cabin to celebrate an engagement. As you might guess, mask demon, innocent cabin dwellers, victim and husband are all slated to make an encounter.
Rolfe Kanesky, the director, made the hilarious There's Nothing Out There in 1992 which spoofed body count monster movies. Over the years he's tried his hand at adult features, horror movies, and action films. Most have gone direct to video. But he's had the chance to work with some talented actors and built an ensemble of them for his features. In Nightmare Man, he's had the opportunity to use them to best effect.
One surprise is the humor he injects into the action. When the people in the cabin are attacked by the killer wearing a devil mask, he has his actors joking about the violence. Sometimes the humor is very bizarre; such as a game of Truth or Dare inter cut with the wife victim trying to fight-off and attacker. And there is the self-referential moment of having one actor where a t-shirt with "There's Nothing Out There" emblazoned on the front.
Not a bad little movie, with some attempt to put amusement into the series.
