Castro Resigns

You can read the story here http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/cuba_castro_dc

Personally I thought the man had passed away already and it was being covered up. I don't know why but I thought Castro would try and lead until the day he died, he wouldn't be the first to rule from their death bed. Anyway, while I would like to think this spells good news for Cuba it appears Fidel will still play an influential part in running the country so I have my doubts about things improving for Cuba anytime soon.

It will take years before things improve in Cuba.
They need to first improve their economy ...something must be done about the embargo.

Hopefully, I could go for a nice cigar right now. But I doubt that will happen, like everybody else says its probably going to be his brother to take over. I doubt that its just going to end up as a fair election. I'd say that I would like to see America try to help the people gain control over their country, but then it would be the same shit with Iraq. We would just be feeding our money into their country, and at the moment we need all the help we can get before it turns into a full blown depression. Not to mention that to help the people of that country we would have to pull our troops out of Iraq, but thats not going to happen, because all the US wants is those oil fields. That was the whole point of the war against terrorism. Shit we didn't need to bomb Iraq, or Afghanistan. They were just scapegoats. I bet that if Cuba had oil fields in the country we sure as hell would have been in Cuba years ago.

After 50 years of "El Jefe" alot of the Cuban people won't deal with change well but I'd like to think that they would welcome any and all help.
I wish it wasn't so difficult for Americans to travel there.
I travel to Cuba on a humanitarian waiver to visit my family and it is such a beautiful place---it can easily make money via tourism.
If they can lift the embargo and allow more trade and just send humanitarian aid I think it could help alot...it's obviously not going to change but it WILL help.
But I doubt we'll see change, not anytime soon at least.
I also don't want to see us in a depression it's just hard for alot of Cuban Americans to ignore the issues over there.:(
