Black Metal?

Does anyone on here listen to Black Metal they have the whole Horror scene going on with the corpse paint anyone?

I listen to Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal those are the best Black Metal bands in my opinion.

With the exception of Immortal, That is the crappiest sh*t there is... Not even Black Metal.

Try digging a little deeper than what you see at the mall.

Cool

Black Metal

The first wave of bands to influence the sound were Venom and Bathory.

The second wave came in the early 90's in the form of Norwegian Black Metal, some bands that defined the genre, Mayhem, Immortal, Darkthrone and of course Emperor.

Cradle of Filth evolved from Black Metal and became a cleaner and more produced version of both Gothic Metal, Black Metal and other extreme metal styles. It is widely debated amongst fans of metal whether Cradle Of Filth belong to the Black Metal genre.

I'm not a fan of that extreme metal anymore, but some black metal is actually quite good, very evil and creepy sounding. Try reading about the messed up things those guys have done, specifically Burzhum's arson on a church, and his murdering the guy from Mayhem (apparently he was smiling when he was given a 21 year sentence....wow). For what it's worth, these guys certainly aren't posers.

I was always kind of partial to the band Dissection, however.

Yeah the guy from Burzum was crazy and in his mugshot he has a little smirk on his face.

I wouldn't call Varg Vikernes crazy. This is his story on the murder from his perspective: http://www.burzum.org/eng/library/a_..._story02.shtml
Actually there have been quite a lot of church burnings in Norway, as an act of the Black metal society. Someone tried to burn the church I'm living 100 meters from unsuccessfully some years back. And this is only a place with about 2500 inhabitants.
In regards of Black Metal I'm not fond of very much of it. I prefer grindcore or death instead. Though there are some good songs, and i like much of Summonings songs despite their heavy use of lamer synths.
