Gimme some recommendations!

Hello all.

I've found that I'm unsure what films to buy because I pretty much have all the horror films that I actually want on DVD.

I need some ideas!

I like films about a character up against bizarre odds/villians, such as "The Wicker Man", "The Tenant" and "Suspira" so something along those lines will be great. I also like "The Ninth Gate" which had a similar, eerie kind of vibe.

Any suggestions?

Dead Birds

Maybe if you gave us a list of what movies you have, we could help you better.

Oh yes, sorry.

Here's my Horror list, in whatever order I read them off the shelf:
From Hell
28 Days Later
The Ninth Gate
The Blair Witch Project
The Texas Chainsaw massacre Remake
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the beginning
Saw trilogy
all Friday 13th films
Alien films
The Ring
Creep
Suspiria
The Fly (No Cronenberg recommendations though please, i've seen them all)
Sleepy Hallow
Sixth Sense through to Lady in the Water
Rabid
Shivers
The Shining
Rosemary's Baby
The Tenant
Romero's "Dead" films
Scream trilogy
all Halloween films
all Nightmare on Elm St. films
all Exorcist films
Omen Trilogy
Cube trilogy
Final Destination trilogy
all Hannibal Lecter films
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
Don't look now (Something like this would be great)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre original
The Wicker Man (again, I love this kind of film)

That should give you some idea of the films I enjoy. I'm really not sure where to go next - I just recently bought and saw Suspiria for the first time so some more Dario Argento films might be a start.

Perhaps we can turn this into a recommendation thread of some sort, so we can all share our interests and films and broaden our horizons.

Nice list. I agree with most of those.

@Grumbler
You should make a DVDSpot or DVDAF.

Thanks for the recommendations; I will endevour to seek them out. I do have Dog Soldiers, actually, forgot to mention it!

Also, I see you listed From Dusk till Dawn 3. I have the first film already, but I noticed a boxset of all three films for only £12. Is it worth it? I guess since you didn't list the second film, it probably isn't...

The first and third of the From Dusk Til' Dawn series were the best. The second one had nothing more than explosions going for it, in my opinion.

Why? What are the benefits? I've never used that kind of thing before.

I noticed you had 28 Days Later on your list on DVDs you have watched. If you haven't seen 28 Weeks Later, definitely grab it. Almost as good as the original, but a bit more violent and gorey. Definitely buy The Descent. Great flick. The Scream films are fun in a traditional teenage slasher sorta way.
