Slaying Vampires

Mulcahy to Teach Art of Slaying Vampires
Source: Variety
September 27, 2007

Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil: Extinction) will direct Zen in the Art of Slaying Vampires, a project in development by CP Productions partners Michael Cerenzie and Christine Peters.

The movie is based on a novel by Steven-Elliot Altman that's the first in a three-book series.

The protagonist is turned into a vampire as he and his lover are attacked in lower Manhattan. She dies, and he struggles to overcome his murderous instincts and thirst for blood through Zen meditation. A struggle for his soul ensues between the bloodsuckers and the zen masters.

Altman is writing the script, and CP's Cerenzie and Peters will produce. They are also working together on a game version of "Zen."

Are you just this side of homophobic?

Passion and blood and lust and desire know no sexual boundaries. If this makes you uncomfortable...good, it's supposed to.

Great another fucked Vampire flick about sensual vampires exploring the meaning life, what it means to be human, boo hoo how do I come to terms with being a vampire/ how do I keep my humanityyyyyyy. flick. I hope when this gay straight to DVD "vampire flick" Hits the stores they put it in the chick flick section, so I don't waste my hard earned dollars renting the fucked up piece of shit. Man I thought vampire movies moved away from this shit. Even the vampires with guns faze was better than this shit. At least the vampires in those movies killed people.

("30 Days of Night": "Keep those lights on" is the moral of Steve Niles' acclaimed horror tale. The comic book film — which tells the story of an Alaskan town, in the dark for 30 days, that is held hostage by vampires — will be released October 19. Josh Hartnett and Melissa George will star in the thriller directed by "Hard Candy" helmer David Slade and produced by Raimi. Don't assume this is a run-of-the-mill vamp flick, though. "There's a lot of blood," Niles exclaimed. "These are not Anne Rice vampires with doilies around their necks. These vampires don't try to romance or try to hypnotize you. They attack and rip your throat out and then take your head off so you don't transform.

Now that sounds like a vampire flick worth watching.
