Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Well I picked this up just because of Robert Englund, and the plot summary on the back of the box. It was a different take on a horror movie, and much enjoyable to watch. It has it's humor, and sort of a twist, that should be enjoyable watch for many. I say give it atleast a rent if you can find it somewhere, more information can be found here. If you have seen it what did you think about it?

Here is a short summary: The next great psycho horror slasher has given a documentary crew exclusive access to his life as he plans his reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo, all the while deconstructing the conventions and archetypes of the horror genre for them.

On the surface Leslie Vernon (Nathan Baesel) seems like your average, small-town, nice guy. He has goals, ambitions and asperations........ follow in the footsteps of his long-time heroes Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees and be the world's next great psycho-slasher. A true self-promoter, Leslie gives documentary filmmaker Taylor Gentry (Angela Goethals) and her crew exclusive access to his life as he plans and executes his great reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo, all the while deconstructing the conventions and archetypes of the horror genre for them.

Glad to see that someone else from here enjoyed it as much as I did. Yeah you def. can tell what is going to happen, I forgot about kane making an apperance  The look of Leslie was pretty creepy as well, and I love how they interviewed the "old timers".

yeah the old timers were so sweet.... and what they said about having to have evil in the world to know what is good makes a lot of sense... or at least to me

its a shame that kane hodder had his cameo in the elm street piece... but it was funny cause he just shut the door on her.

i couldnt believe how good it was...... since the night before i had watched dead silence... which, well lets not go there... meh so this was an unexpected hit for me

I love this film! It simply shouldn't work, but the writing acting and directing are all spot-on. The switch from docu-to-slasher styles was brilliant. The only thing missing was the gore.

I hope it does well enough to merit a sequel, because I'm sure the director, Scott Glosserman, would love to jump back into this world. I recently read an interview with the screenwriter and he suggested a sequel would revolve around how Leslie deals with the fame and notoriety he was struggling so hard to attain throughout the first film. I'd gladly follow them down the rabbit-hole again.

I read this as well, after I started this thread. I think it could be a good sequal, and the docu-to-slasher was brilliant, and the Gore  would of made it a hell of a lot better! But was still a great film!

I haven't seen it, but how is it different from Man Bites Dog? it sounds like basically the same thing.
