The Devil Doll (1936)
Hi again,
Marya Zaleska, your hostess to the supernatural. The coffee with brandy was so invigurating! It has my "new blood" flowing well in my veins. A vampire you know! Well, lowering the lights, back over to the creaky rocker again, dress straightened , shawl in place and pipe handy with some new tobacco blend call "bloody blend". Hee Hee Hee. This time your hostess will discuss the below classic horror film. The Devil Doll (1936) This film was directed and written by Tod browning The film stars Lionel Barrymore, Maureen O'Sullivan, Frank Lawton, Rafaela Ottiana and Henry B. Walthall. The businees parters are played by Robert Grieg, Pedro De Cordoba and Arthur Hohl. This story evolves around Paul Levond (Lionel Barrymore) a respected banker in Paris who is framed for robbery and muder by his three partners. Levond is convicted and sent to Devil's Island. While on the Island he meets scientist Marcel (Henry B. Walthall) and they both escape to Paris. Levond soon learns of Marcel's terrible secret: that of reducing creatures to a very small size. After Marcel dies, Levond teams up with Marcel's wife Malita (Rafaela Ottiana) to continue with the experiments to seek revenge on those who framed him. Being a wanted man, Levond desguises himself as sweet and kindly Madame Mandelip dressed in long full dress, granny glasses, gray granny wig with bun and a shawl. This is what my Halloween costume was based on as you can see in my picture. Levond wants to see both his mother Madame Lavond and his daughter. He learns from his mother that his daughter thinks nothing of him. Levond wreaks havoc and revenge on his three partners by having them killed off one by one by humans reduced in size to tiny living dolls. Malita wants to destroy her late husbands works and goes berserk. By this action she burns the place down with all the human and animal dolls in it as well as herself. Levond send a note to the police that it was madame Mandelip that committed the crimes. He also is able to make contact with his daughter that he is innocent. He meets her on top of the Eifel Tower. One of his enemies makes a full confession that clears Levond's name. With his enemies either dead or behind bars and his good name cleared, he heads out into the sunset while his daughter and fiance can get married and know that her father was innocent. This was a great movie and it is not often shown on TV. Leonard Maltin gives it a 3 out of 4 stars. I fully agree.y. The film shows it's age but with the great performances and great story by Tod Browning, that can be overlooked. This is a great classic of the horror story genre. It is worth watching and ownings. It is available on DVD at present. Well, I hope you get a chance to see this great classic movie. Now it's back to my ghosthy haunts. Hee Hee Hee Hee! Your hostess to the supernatural Marya Zaleska

Definitely. I have yet to see such a good package of classic horror, other than the Lewton collection.
