Well, if you are watching some movies as part of your holiday festivities, it's always good to pop in a horror film. I like a good zombie movie around Christmastime.

And let's not forget that ghost stories are a traditional entertainment during the holiday season. "A Christmas Carol" is one of the very best of them. I used to have a record album of that with sound effects, and it used to scare the crap out of me. Marley's ghost was some scary shit! With those fuckin' chains and the horrible way he screamed. (The book's description of Marley's specter is downright GHASTLY.) And the 1951 Alastair Sim movie adaptation...available all over the place...it's a great film and also, at the appropriate moments, creepy as hell!

No idea if I'll get any horror films for Christmas this year. I will be watching Scrooged though. I'll also be searching like a madman to find a burned copy of The Christmas Toy, good Henson stuff and still not out on dvd.

http://www.myspace.com/grindhouse

Tues, Dec 19th
The Grindhouse Film Festival (a monthly double-feature event in LA) will be showing Silent Night, Bloody Night and Black Christmas with special guests Bob Clark, John Saxon and Olivia Hussey!!!

Anyone in the area should come - these screenings are soooo much fun. In addition to the movies and Q & A with the guests, there's always a raffle full of porn and movie posters and they always give away at least one movie (VHS) from Johnny Ramone's personal collection of expliotation flicks (which was bequeathed to one of the guys who runs the film fest)

Last one I went to I won a gift bag full of "erotic" oils...very slippery
