After Dark Fest
8 Movies will Show in 30 Cities:
http://www.horrorfestonline.com/ Penny Dreadful Young Penny (Miner) goes on a retreat with her psychologist (Rogers); the intention is to help her overcome her phobia, an intense fear of cars. Unexpected events find her in a nightmarish situation where her worst fears come true. The Unrest After a brutal death in the gross anatomy lab, first year medical student Alison Blanchard must discover the truth behind her mysterious cadaver - whose spirit she's certain is in a state of unrest. When her lab partners start dying one-by-one, Alison must face her own mortality before it's too late. Sisters The film centers on a young woman, played by Doillon, who leads a disturbingly sheltered existence at the hand of her controlling psychiatrist (Rea). A nosey reporter (Sevigny), suspicious of the doctor's motives, gets involved, leading to her witnessing a homicide. Full Synopsis: Sevigny plays a driven investigative reporter who probes a renowned yet controversial psychiatrist (Stephen Rea). Her investigation soon discovers Rea's disturbing relationship with one of his former patients Angelique (Doillon), while a new romance blossoms between Angelique and a medical intern. After witnessing a brutal murder, Sevigny's investigation brings her closer to the beautiful and enigmatic Angelique. As dark and violent secrets are revealed, Sevigny's world begins spiraling out of control and she begins to question not only who she is but what her true relationship is with Angelique. The Gravedancers The film is about three friends who desecrate the graves of three very unforgiving ghosts. Wicked Little Thing Recently widowed Karen Tunny and her two daughters, Sarah and Emma, move to a remote mountain home which Karen has inherited from the family of her late husband. However, she is unaware that the home is situated near an old mine, the site of an early 20th century tragedy in which many children were buried alive... Dark Ride Nearly a decade after two young girls are brutally murdered, the monstrous killer, Jonah, escapes from a mental institution and returns to his familiar killing ground, the theme park attraction "Dark Ride." His unfortunate victims this time are a group of college kids on a road trip that inevitably leads them to the Dark Ride where their night of youthful fun becomes a nightmare. The killer, who is mimicking the sets within the attraction, makes sure this is a "ride" audiences will never forget. Infection (review) (Kansen; Japan) 'Kansen' means Infection and the story revolves around a strange little hospital with weird patients and even weirder staff. Part 1 of 6 J-Horror Films. Death is just a breath away in this horror film from Japan that is set in a horrifying hospital whose overworked staff is busy covering up their own malpractice until one patient exhibits gruesome, and deadly, symptoms - and then disappears. Reincarnation (Rinne; Japan) Rinne deals with the topic of reincarnation. The Abandoned (Spain) An American film producer named Marie returns to her homeland, Russia, where her mother's dead body has been found under bizarre circumstances. She never knew her, having been adopted and brought to America as a baby. The only clue to what might have happened is an isolated, abandoned farm in the mountains that supposedly belonged to her natural parents. |

I've seen Gravedancers at the Fantasia Festival this summer, and it had in nearly every imaginable way the feeling of an 80's horror movie. I mean this as a compliment of course :)

films from around the world
I really like the idea that not all the films are from the US. A wide variety of material is always a good thing to compare others or even your own work too. I understand that presale tickets to this festival got moved up from late october to this friday the 13th of october. I thought that was a nice little twist to the whole show.
Thought you might be interested in this as well. The Miss Horror Fest is a quite a riot if you ask me. but 50 thousand bucks would not be something to complin about. http://www.youtube.com/horrorfest Last edited by mallorygold; 10-10-2006 at 11:01 AM. |

Tickets Finally On Sale for 8 Films to Die For
So- I sent a request for a weekend pass via the website http://www.horrorfestonline.com/
I got no response. I heard that I could buy off of Fandango. I can't. And then I heard that they will be selling everything individually at the theaters, like a regular film festival. Who needs passes, I guess? But if you keep all of your ticket stubs, you are allowed into a special screening for free. And personally, the ninth film is the one I am DYING to see. So I guess I wil have to sift through all 8 films to get there. Times http://www.horrorfestonline.com/showtimes.html Theaters http://www.horrorfestonline.com/theaters.html "The ninth special feature film in the AfterDark Film Festival has been announced. Snoop Dogg’s “Hood of Horror” sporting the tagline, “It’s not all good in da hood.” Stacy Title, whose work includes the dark comedy “The Last Supper”, starring Cameron Diaz, directs this three part horror film, incorporating stories of inner-city characters whose actions determine their afterlife fate. Hood of Horror will close the weekend of independent gore featuring in 35 cities over the same weekend of November 17th-19th. Snoop Dogg’s soon-to-be cult classic will feature on the 19th, in a one time screening." |

I was beginning to wonder if this was some rite of passage on this forum, that you have to make a thread about the After Dark Festival in Novemeber, in order to be recognized as a true member here?!?!

What the fuck are you talking about? When there's already 3 OTHER threads about this there's no need to make a fourth. It's called keeping the board clean.

Well, I was just agreeing with you in a joking way as to the number of threads that keep popping up about this. Much bigger problems out there to get stressed out about man.

When they say 8 films that you were never meant to see and that they were banned from theatres is that really true? Or is it just to make you go see it. From the trailer it doesnt look like anything special.
