So, why do I like horror movies?
I've watched so many horrors from the 1930s Dracula/Frankenstein movies to modern day ones such as The Grudge. Some people just like comedies, others are into their Hollywood X-Men popcorn features. Then there's people like me who love horror films (though I like other genres too). So what is it that attracts us to the gory/slasher/killer demon/zombie fests?
I'm not sure myself. Maybe I like seeing evil being overcome, or getting exposed to nasty situations and thrilled in the safety of my own seat. What do others think? :)

I like being scared, it is like a shot of adrenaline, well it was when I was a kid, I don't get the rush or scared often anymore, but i guess it's just my old favorite, horror that is,

I'm not a Stephen King fan, but his book on the subject, Danse Macabre, is great and I paraphrase it often, which is what I'm about to do here:
some people like to go to movies to escape. to see the happy ending and see the dude get the girl, etc. to see something that is completely in contrast to their everyday, lame lives. the horror fan likes to see what they have expected all along: that everything really is going to shit... and fast. so maybe King is saying that horror fans are just die hard pessimists.

Because there are so many variations of everything in these movies, unlike with chick flicks and stuff.
We are the horror critics....You need no more reason than that.

oh boi..
i don't know why i watch horror movies.. i spend most of my time under the bloody blankie..cos i get shit scared quite easily..but somebody up there put it nicely... i like to see that not always the good guy wins or the pretty chick getting her face mangulated. You could say that i like horror cos i like the thrill of the unknown. Not so much slashers..mainly mystery..oh..exceptional with dracula movies.. em always rooting for him..'sigh' I love drac :D :o

I like movies period, although there are genres I can't stand (e.g., romance). I like horror when it evokes strong fear, but I don't generally like it when it tries to be funny. What keeps me coming back to horror is that other genres generally don't do much with fear and focus instead on other emotions.
