Red face Okay Guys, I Need Your Help AGAIN...Don't You Just Feel So USED?

I only need your help THIS time (and many of the other times...) because some of you guys are FAR more familiar with the internet than I am...

I need to find a way to reach as many people as possible in my area, who are looking for a job, and I need to do it quickly...

Where do I go to accomplish that?

This is the ad that I need to get out there:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone in the Northern Kentucky area looking for a job?

Are you 21 or older?
Do you have a valid driver's license?
Do you have a decent driving record (no DUIs)?
Are you drug free?
Are you responsible, dependable and trustworthy?
Do you have reliable transportation to get you to and from work?
Do you own any black pants and black shoes/boots?
Can you drive a 15 passenger van (about 5 miles, single destination, to and from the airport)?
Can you work 4 days a week (3 days, 1 night...43 hours per week with time and a half pay for overtime)?
Can you load and unload luggage?
Can you smile and be courteous enough to make decent tips (about $20-$40 a day, more or less depending on weather, time of year, number of runs/passengers, and your attitude)?
Can you start next week?

If you answered "yes" to all of these questions...Please contact me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I posted it in a bulletin on MySpace, but it doesn't really help a lot since all of my friends already HAVE jobs...So, I was kinda hoping that they might at least KNOW someone who needs a job...I posted this a few hours ago, and I only got one response...It was from a guy who said he wished he had known about it sooner, because he just started his new job on Saturday...Figures...

Anyway...Here's the situation:

Dustin has to fire an employee at the hotel, and he needs a replacement FAST...

It's an extremely easy job, but the guy just kept screwing up terribly...He even got pulled over and arrested once when he was driving the company van because he was speeding and he had a warrant...The van was impounded by the police and the hotel had to pay to get it back...

Dustin STILL gave him another chance after that...and many other things, including constantly being late (once for 2 hours, which Dustin had to cover), and once leaving the van at the garage because he forgot to take the check with him to pay for the maintenance and he had waited until the garage was about to close before he even took it in...So the hotel had NO van until the next day and had to pay for cabs for the guests all night...and there are MANY other things, but I think that's enough examples...ridiculous...

But, last night, he accidentally took the keys to the restaurant home (keys that he wasn't even supposed to HAVE), and they had to break the lock off the door to the restaurant this morning so that guests could have breakfast...

So yeah...He is in desperate need of a new employee...

He's known for a couple of weeks that he MIGHT need to replace him, but Dustin was really hoping he would straighten up...Last night was the last straw...

He really should have started looking for a replacement sooner...He kinda knew we would have to...

If Dustin doesn't find someone by Wednesday, he will have to work 21 hours a day until he DOES find someone else...That would truly suck...

Help...Please...

Go to some popular restaraunts and bars in your area and ask them if you can hang your ad there. It's what people do over here. I live in a small town, however.

Good luck Rayne!

Monster.com may be a good bet for you. It has a very large user base, and it's free for job seekers. Employers may have to pay to post a position though, I'm not really sure. It's worth looking into though.

Thanks...That's a good idea...I was really hoping to find something on the 'net because I need to reach as many people as possible

The problem is:

We have SO many jobs available here, people can pick and choose...

We have a LOT of 'job hoppers', in case you don't know what that means, they're people who change jobs frequently either because they don't like the job they have, they find a job that pays more, or they just want to try something new...

The employers have a difficult time enticing employees, simply BECAUSE there is so much to choose from here...Which is why fast food restaurants and other places that are considered to be 'low paying jobs', pay an average of $10 an hour here, with health benefits, 401k, vacation pay, etcetera...

This also creates lazy workers who don't take their jobs seriously...They know that if they get fired, they can just get another job...It's too easy for them...

The only excuse NOT to have a job here, is just severe laziness...Dustin has been here for 2 years, and even HE has had 3 jobs, each time he switched to make more money, or to try something he liked better...He was very surprised by how easy it was to find a job here...

It's a gold mine for someone looking for work...It's a dry well for someone looking for a worker...

Most of the people around here (like the kinda people I'd probably reach with a notice at a local restaurant, bar, etcetera) most likely aready HAVE jobs...That's why I need to reach a LOT of people in a hurry, hoping to catch at least ONE good candidate in between jobs, before he snags up his next one...

We always took this 'easy to find jobs' thing for granted when someone WANTED a job...Now, it's biting us in the ass, because we're on the other side...Employees are a much more valuable commodity than employers here...

Everything I have found online so far, where I could actually post this job offer, requires payment to do so...Fuck that...I'm not paying for a year of shit just to fill one position, one time...

Hmm, but actually...One of the other drivers is a terrible slacker, too...He always gets caught goofing off and sleeping in between runs, and is often difficult to locate (even though he has a company cell phone on him)...

That's actually how Dustin got in a wreck on Halloween...One of the guys called in sick, so Dustin tried to get ahold of the guy who was ALREADY at work to see if he could stay a little longer, to cover the guy who called off, so that Dustin could go trick-or-treating with the kids, then Dustin would take over and finish the shift AFTER trick-or-treating...

Well, he couldn't reach the guy, even though the guy was there and had a company cell phone on him...So, Dustin had to actually drive there to physically search for him...

He found him hanging out in one of the rooms, sitting on his ass...He told Dustin, "Oh I didn't know you tried to reach me, I think this thing is turned off" Yet, he's supposed to be waiting near the van, ready to take off whenever there's a shuttle call...And this guy gets paid overtime every week, and doesn't actually WORK half of the hours that he's there....

Anyway, it was on the way back from finding the guy and telling him to stay over for a couple of hours, when Dustin got in a wreck...He wasn't even planning on going ANYWHERE that day, he was just about to put on his costume...And, it was his day off, too...

Sorry for the super long post...But, I wanted you to see how difficult it's going to be to locate a good worker, and why we need to reach as many people as possible...

You might try your local employment department. I'm willing to bet you can do everything over the phone with them, and they should have a website where all jobs are posted- and it won't cost you a cent as an employer. At least that's the way it is here in Oregon.

Oh, and then there's craigslist-

http://www.craigslist.com

If you're not familiar with craigslist, it's the #1 website to post classifieds- and it's totally free. You will be able to place an ad based on location- whatever your closest large city is, and millions of people visit that site daily. The last time my employer placed an ad on there, we got about 20 replies.

OOOH...Thank you...I'll definitely try that one

A Google search directed me to something with AOL, but I couldn't find any place to post a job, only stuff about finding a job

I'm going to see if I can find anything with Yahoo or MSN...

Right now I'm posting this job on Statejobs.com ...But, I searched through their resumes (for free :)) and there was only one even close to here, and it is 50 miles away, and it's for a Medical Assistant...So, I'm not sure how much good it's going to do to list this job THERE, but it's free, so I'm trying it...I expected this to be difficult, so I'm not discouraged, yet

I'm also going to list it at postjobsfree.com ...I've got the page open, but I haven't tried it yet...It looks like I might be able to do it...

I'm just afraid that the places I have found may not have very much traffic...They seem kind of obscure...

If I can find something on Yahoo, MSN, or this one that you have mentioned, I KNOW that I'll have a greater reach...

Thank you very much :)

That's what I was gonna say! craigslist is getting REALLY popular these days because it allows you buy/sell/post jobs for free and search by state or neighborhood. BR, craigslist.com is the way to go for sure. A manager at the hotel I work nights at put a help wanted ad on there and had 4 resumes on his desk within 24 hours.
