Predator DVD Question

As some of you might have seen in the Recent Aquisitions thread, I bought the recent 2-disc SE of Predator today. Something on the spine strikes me odd.

At the very bottom of the spine, there is a little white number 15. What does this mean? Part of a set?

Actually I believe that's the 15th "20th Century Fox pimped out 2-disc DVD edition" of a movie.

For instance, my 2-disc edition of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid has a '28' in the same spot. And I know The Omen (2-disc) is '25' or something.

They just have this, like, beautiful 2-disc collection going. And Predator happened to be the 15th DVD released.

I really liked Predator 2.

I can't be bothered with discs and discs of special features its just overkill.

depends on the features ...
most are just extended ads for the movie but i like it when you get some good intervies with the stars and filmmakers..

also the deleted scenes .. its interesting to see what gets cut and why ..

deleted scenes are always a mixed bag with me... Usually they're useless dialogue to give the characters backstory, but it's unnecessary backstory. Deleted scenes in comedies are the WORST.

I usually dont bother with features either, but these were actually cheaper than the single disc versions. Doesnt really make sence, but Im not complaining.

I like commentary, deleted scenes and alternate endings. Alternate endings especially...the storyboard, unfilmed ending for 28 Days Later was better than the whole movie.

What about the myriad of shitty alternates for Hide and Seek?

:D

it really depends on the movie ..

there have been some interesting ones .. where a whole subplot has been removed leaving you with a line or 2 that doesnt make sense in the film later ...

its sort of like filmmaking class - you get a real sense of flow ... what slows down a movie .. what can be trimmed without hurting the film .. i find it pretty interesting.

i have however - seen some pretty useless ones ..
