Anyone ever used...

...Sony Acid Media Creator?

I am still looking for something to get my band off the ground in a fairly short time period.

The guy at best buy said this is what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure.

Hey, newb, urge & I have a country western death metal band. Newb plays the jug, urgeok plays the spoons and I play my beer gut. We're called Buck Satan & the 666 Shooters. Every now and then Zero puts on a pair of overalls and a straw hat and dances along. It's great, you should catch our act next time we're in town!

I don't have any groupies...

...Oh-well, who needs them when the rest of your band is an all female line up?

Boo-Yah!

My only advice to you is, DONT RUSH.

Audio Production isnt something that can be learned through a program.
So many people buy Acid and start throwing loops together, thinking they are music producers.

Before buying any software, learn the basics regardings EQ - Compression - Bussing, Layering,Gating,Reverbs/Delays And editing/Mixing.

Download the free demo of acid and soundforge, and play around. But at the same time, get a few books about Engineering.

It truly is a science.
And should be respected. If your really dedicated to your band and the quality of your music, take the time to learn what its all about. Software doesnt teach that.

Acid, is a good program, very easy, but it is more loop based. For a live band, i would say Pro Tools is the best bet. Its the industry standard, so its best to start on the right foot. They all pretty much work the same, and the can be rewired to one another.

But without knowing the basics (the shit i mentioned above). Your bound to get very frustrated very quickly.

Best Of luck.

If you have any questions. Shoot.

Thanks, and I will be picking up some books when I make my next trip to the store. I hate getting frustrated...I'm ready to shoot the computer.

Loop based is what I'm needing actually. I only have one guitar player in the band, and she will do recording for that. Mostly what I'm needing the Acid for is the synthesizer effects and drums in the loops and editing.

I will be using a seperate program for vocals and live instruments though.

Mostly I'm needing drums. I can't afford a drum set, and the members in my band can't play them.

Plus I'm going to need to remix the tracks and get them sounding right.

I may send you a few emails when I get started, and when I get ready to go to the store.

Acid is just a sequencer. It doesnt generate any audio.

Get Pro Tools w/ The Mbox 2.
Then buy 1 or 2 virtual Synths and your set to start.
