Hmmm....I think I have several favorites. The ww's from An american werewolf in london, the Howling and The Monster Squad were all great.

The worst werewolf I've ever seen was in The Company of Wolves. I liked the movie a lot, it was very surreal, but the special effects in the werewolf department sucked big time.

I dunno...the CGI werewolves from Van Helsing could be a good contender for "worst ever".

As for the best, I really liked the ones in Dog Soldiers. Very different.

Of course, mad props (did I really just say that?) to Lon Cheney Jr's Larry Talbot.

Granted, Van Helsing was pretty lame. But when Stephen Rea turns into the wolf in TCOW, I laughed my ass off. It was like some high school goth kid's art project. But I agree that the VH werewolves were completely stupid.

cgi humanoid movie monsters are hit and miss, american werewolf in paris was terrible, but some films have pulled it off well though. dog soldiers ww's were unique.

i also thought the ginger snaps movies had good looking ww's

You're right. The Ginger Snaps werewolves were pretty good too.

I agree(that which you see)is pretty cool. Thus far though my all time favorite has got to be The Howling,up close and personal(long and slow)study of the werewolf at work...nice stuff.

Dog Soldiers for me. Leave CGI away from creatures that can be done just fine with practical effects. Including Aliens and Frankenstein's Monster.
