Internal Consistency
this is one of those things that can kill a movie. They set a rule, then ignore it for the rest of the movie.
First example: Starship troopers. Doogie Hauser explains that blowing off the legs of the bugs really doesnt do a damn thing to them, but if you shoot them in theri (very large) head, they will die immediately. SO, for the rest of the movie, we see the troopers shooting off bug limbs left and right and ignoring the very large heads.

urge's zombie headshot theory?
Ahh.. I see... that example is just blatant stupidity, but i think it is a good qualifier.

Kind of like The Beast Within. The monster emerges, gets shot up with no effect....and then dies from a gunshot at the end.
Consistency, thou art a jewel.

one thing that has always bugge dme is the "ever changing scale". In one scene, giant monster creature swallows an aircraft carrier whole, the next scene it's just bigger than a trailer home...
another thing that has always killed me is when something is the absolute point of the movie until the last 10 minutes when it is discarded for a "twist'.
