May I suggest www.purpleverse.com. A community of dark and alternate writers. Online for over three years, publisher of Sinfully Twisted magazine. We've just released a new website, regular PDF Ebooks for contributors and are looking at "Edition Two" of our printed book.

Drop by and take a look.
Vern.

Do you pay for published submissions, cover art, etc.?

At the moment no. Purpleverse and it's sister magazine Sinfully Twisted act as promotional tools to establish writers and artists in the public eye.

The project started as a hoby, mainly to promote my own works but demand grew and more people joined us. We make no profit from the community and our Purpleverse books are sold at cost. Only Sinfully Twisted makes a "small" token profit and that is used to help fianance the websites, software etc.

So far we've had commercial movie artists provide us with cover art for our site and magazine projects and we have many more established names coming on board. Purpleverse isn't about money, profit or getting rich, just making a name that people will respect and look to for quality.

Hope this helps. Please email me if you have any questions. :)

Cthulhu Sex Magazine is also always accepting submissions. We're in various chains (B&N) and indie bookstores around the US, Canada and Europe. Check the website for submission guidelines: cthulhusex.com. Don't expect big bucks, but it's a great way to get established, so that you can make some money in the future!

May I suggest another site? IMO this is the premiere site on the net to submit some stories.

The site is not an actual publishing e-zine, but you can read others work, critique theirs and they will critique yours.

You can learn a lot about writing on this forum.
