Umm...You Probably Shouldn't Wash Your Dog In A Washing Machine...

Man Accused Of Putting Dog In Washing Machine

Euless, Texas -- A 32-year-old man faces an animal cruelty charge after allegedly putting a dog in a washing machine and turning on the hot water cycle, officials said.

The dog was later euthanized.

Chad Edward Ellis was indicted Friday on a charge of animal cruelty by a Tarrant County grand jury. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to two years in prison and fined up to $10,000, authorities said.

"Based on what he told us, he became angry with the dog," said Euless police Lt. W.L. Pavlik.

A 25-year-old woman, who was a friend of Ellis, had found the year-old female black Labrador retriever mix in January and took it to a Grapevine animal shelter. The dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment, authorities said. But the animal's injuries failed to heal and it was euthanized.

Police said Ellis also was connected to a rash of dog disappearances in the area. Four neighbors in January reported their pets missing or stolen, and one said he had seen Ellis carrying dog leashes in backyards.

Authorities searched Ellis' home on a warrant and found all four animals, which were subsequently returned to their owners.
