Halloween (1978)

This movie scared the hell out of me back as a kid. I just bought it a few months ago, and I think Halloween II was scarier. Halloween is better in other aspects, but Halloween II is scarier.

Im not much of a slasher fan, but this was certaly the best Ive seen. Good movie, but being that I dont really care for the sub-genre it basically created [I know it wasnt the first, just the most influential], I wont call it "great"

Actually, on the contrary, I'd say it's tied three-ways for the greatest horror movie ever. (Tied with Psycho and The Evil Dead)

I recall some kind of drunken party where someone said, "I just watched 'Halloween' again and I thought it was really stylish but not very clever' and someone else screamed in agreement, 'NO! NO! Halloween is NOT a clever horror film!!!! Itttsh an IMPORTANT horrafilm!'" Neither party remembered the conversation the next day.
