Smashing Pumpkins Are Getting Back Together

Quote:
Smashing Pumpkins are strongly rumoured to be reuniting for a series of live shows, NME.com reports.

The first appearance is tipped to be a performance at the Coachella music festival in California on April 30. Depeche Mode, the Strokes, the White Stripes and Portishead are also rumoured to be on the bill.

The Pumpkins reunion buzz began to circulate last year when former Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan took out an ad in the Chicago Tribune newspaper saying a return to his old band was imminent.

"For a year now I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans to renew and revive the Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams. In this desire I feel I have come home again."

More recently, Corgan teased his fans on his web page, writing that a surprise was in store for them.

"The surprise I have in store for you all will be announced soon enough," he said. "Hold on to your horses. After all, good things surely comes to those who wait... Don't you just love the suspense."

Billy Corgan's debut solo disc "TheFutureEmbrace" was released last June.

I was always impressed when Billy would go on Politically Incorrect wearing a dress, or skirt, or whatever that was.

I loved the pumpkins and
went out and bought Billy's solo, and had to admit....the magic was the band, not him.
I guess he figured that out as well.

i always thought the first album - Gish - was brilliant.
I never cared for much after that .. just a song here or there.

ironically i heard that they themselves didnt like Gish.

The first time I ever heard them..."the world is a vampire..."
The lyrics caught my attention, then their sound-which was really unique back then...this was when grunge ruled,so they did alright in such a market IMHO.
