Casual Name-Dropping

Hey gang, long time no type (You SUUUCKKK!)

So anyway, I hate when people casually name-drop in the middle of a conversation when it has no bearing or influence on what we're saying.

"I'm going to see Saw 2 tonight."

"Oh really? I saw the first one, my GIRLFRIEND really hated it. I kept telling her its not scary, but y'know... my GIRLFRIEND gets scared so easily."

It's like when celebrities say, "Oh yes, me and USHER are very good friends."

I get it, you have a girlfriend and you objectify her by not giving her a name and merely titling her like you would a fancy car. Great, good job.

So... that's it.

People probably use the pronoun "girlfriend" instead of her proper name because no one knows who the fuck she is.

example of two imaginary posts:

"Me and my girlfriend went to see the new Julia Roberts movie."

"Me and Susan went to see the new Julia Roberts movie."

which sounds better to us strangers? not only does it not make sense to use her proper name, but no one really gives a crap what your girlfriend's name is. anyway, it's more of a "name drop" if you use her proper name.

sounds to me like someone's got some sour grapes about not getting laid. so from now on, no one make any mention of having a significant other.

Okay, the anal compare contrast lesson was annoying, but the last insinuation was just rude. Plucketh thine cork from thine butthole, butthole.

make that 2 someones... just kidding.

but seriously, if someone makes an angry post about a pet peeve on a public forum, isn't it sort of inviting comment?

I also didn't notice that the original post was talking about "in conversation" ...not in forum posts. I think I just assumed that from the posts that followed it.

You guys are too funny:)

Thank goodness for friction.Thank goodness for different points of view.
How boring everything would be if we agreed with everything anybody said.

My husband brought up such a good point last night(I swear I'm not laughing)

He was looking around an event and noticed that most of the above average looking females were 9x outta 10 with an ugly guy
( this is not the point, just an observation).
And he noticed that all the women were dressed almost exactly the same, hair exactly the same, facial expression exactly the same,no one female stood out-none were unique,he said if you lined them all up,it would be: cookie-cutter women.(his words)
I have noticed this as well when I shop.
You don't have to look at many different stores....you find the same outfits at EVERY store.
So my question is....are we morphing?
Is the 2000's going to be the BLAH Generation?
The Lemming Generation?

Coffee Talk-
Discuss amoungest yourselves.
I highjacked your thread It'sA.....but it was a non comformist thing to do,so you have to forgive me:D
