Well, my friends and I have made quite a few parodies of movies. Our list is as follows:

-Psyko
-Dawn of the Nick
-The Gobstopper
-The Shinin'

We're going to put them all on a DVD very soon, and I'd be happy to send you a copy when we do, and wouldn't accept any money for them. It'd make me verry happy just to have someone in another place watching them and hopefully enjoying them.

We are also currently working on our first serious horror flick, entitled "All Hell".

Trial and error. You will likely make/work on a lot of crap before you find your strong points. Use it to your advantage. If you don't learn from them, you're doing yourself a disservice. Stick with it. I have and now I'm getting actual budgets presented to me to work with from interested producers. Considering I was planning on shooting a particular one as cheaply as possible, this is like a dream come true for me. It won't mean my script is any better, but at least I have some breathing room to work now.

PS 'Vendetta' was excellent.

Don't want CK to yell at me for spamming. I have some titles out there. PM me for the websites of the companies selling them.

That's cool if you want to make your own green screen, but you can buy them used on ebay for a couple hundred bucks. It might save ya some time and hassle...
