Houston Officer Arrested For Soliciting Prostitute While On Duty

Officer Tyrone Cross, 44, was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly solicited a decoy prostitute during an undercover sting.

Houston — A Houston police officer is accused of picking up a prostitute while on duty.

HPD internal affairs officers arrested Officer Tyrone Cross in southwest Houston Sunday night.

The internal affairs division used a civilian woman posing as a hooker to bust Cross. The officer had already come under investigation by the internal affairs division once before for an undisclosed reason.

"It's disappointing whenever you hear that a police officer or any public official you know has broken the law in relation to their public duties," said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Julian Ramirez.

Cross has been charged with a misdemeanor and is out on $1,000 bond. Cross will remain suspended with pay as the investigation continues. He will make his first court appearance on Monday.
