Good films that fell off

Jeepers Creepers

I watched this a few years back & was pretty disapointed by this film. My cousin was moving & had a box of DVD's so I thought I would watch it again seeing as I was bored. I just realised, the first 40 or so minutes of the film are actually awesome. The first half of the film is one of the most chilling I have seen in a while..I was disapointed by the fact it was a man lizard or whatever. I would give the film about a 5/10 but for the first half I would give it 8/10(till u see he is a lizard)

Roadkill

I feel similar with this, Roadkill was good but then fell off during the middle. I think when it got to that part where he drives his truck till he gets them stuck between his trufk & the tree is where I thought it was poo.

What films were u enjoying but suddenly got pissed off with

We differ in opinions.
I think JC was good in that it actually went against the grain for a horror film at the time, and my god....the bad guy wasn't actually some stupid-ass angsty psyched out teenager, wronged/thought to be dead asshole, or one of the many friends or relatives around either of those two.
I agree however, that the first half was a little more tense...in fact, if you'd missed a few minutes, you might be convinced they were two different films...with, uh....the same cast, well, you get me.
The cop car scene was badass, the creeper walking the "cat woman" out by the back of her neck was fucked up...hmmm, the cop station under assault was ok, and getting to see creeper hit several times with a car was...well, funny as fuck.
I am in the middle about how it ended, it was interesting and all, but when the credits rolled, I was like "wtf?!?".
I pretty much enjoyed it the whole way through myself, but each to their own, my opinion doesn't invalidate yours...

That said, I thought JC2 felt like a cheap-ass knock off, the character seemed much less menacing, sure, he could grow himself back, and had more weapons, but...there was something lost along the way - maybe it was the mystery of what he was during the first one that made it scary, I dunno...

As for roadkill, as fun as prank calls are...I just thought this one straight up sucked. Nothin' good to say, so I'll leave it at that.

and a 3rd opinion .. i thought part 1 was great until the police station sequence .. and the bullshit with the psychic.

I really liked part 2 .. if only because of the shit kicking the creature took ..

it was one of the few horror films that i've seen where the protagonist has a harder time than most of the victims.

I thought it was funny for this reason and it kept me interested

I enjoyed both part 1 and 2. Its good to have a monster in a movie instead of, as Cheeb has pointed out "some stupid-ass angsty psyched out teenager,".

Bring back the good old fashioned monster movie.

I think just about every Horror/Thriller I have seen the past few years have fell off. They all start off great, but always get stupid. It's like the writer comes up with a great plot, but halfway through the process they give up.

Yes, Jeepers Creepers was awesome until the police station scene. As soon as the hat and coat came off though...::sigh::...I believe my exact words were "Son of a bitch!". Just wasn't scary anymore.

The second JC was GREAT...as long as you don't think about the movie AT ALL...It was good for a cheap horror fix. There were a few decent moments of violence...not scary...but a bit on the funny side.

There was one low budget movie I found for a dollar called "Fear of the Dark". I brought this home to watch with my boyfriend and we were both fairly into it until...they suddenly through in a teenage love interest and it became a teen scream something or another...T-T And it had such potential!...at least a dollar's worth anyway.

True...it was kinda more scary to think that he was just some unusually agile, crazy resilient motherfucker...and for a human to do those things to other people, that woulda been AWESOME...
Although I still stand by my statement that it was still good to see something inhuman for once...

Although it wasnt enogh to ruin the movie, the "darkness" at the end of House on Haunted Hill (1999) really pissed me off. Interesting effect though.
