Question for those of you with an IPad?

I'm in college and looking for a paper free way to view PDF's of History papers. What I need to be able to do is highlight information and also have it saved with the corresponding page number so I can cite it in my research papers. I have a Kindle, while great for reading books, it sucks as far as reading PDFs. I was wondering if anybody else out their uses their IPad for a similar purpose and could tell me if its worth getting one?
