Fatal Frame - How Horrorful is it?

The last time I played a video game at home I was sitting in front of my TV with an Atari 2600 paddle in my hand. I don't play modern video games of any type nor do I have any type of video game console. I guess I'm just not part of that generation or age group that has naturally gravitated towards them.

Anyhow --- I have read things on the internet about this video game and particularly Fatal Frame 2. Apparently there are some creepy elements in it along with a spooky atmosphere.

Can anyone give me their personal opinion about it?

Together with the Silent Hill franchise, it's the scariest game out there.

I personally thought Fatal Frame 1 & 3 were the best.

Silent Hill, that's another name that popped-up when I was researching Fatal Frame. I think both these games were listed on some website as being in the top ten of scariest video games. I did see a few minutes of a movie on a cable channel with this title but I didn't watch it because I didn't come in at the beginning.

Thanks for your opinion Angra.

You're welcome.

Hurry up and buy.

O hell! I just joined and already made a mistake.

I'd buy but just don't know what to get. Besides, I'm sure I wouldn't spend that much time playing.

I don't want to age myself, but by the time I had a High School diploma, Jr. College degree and a B.A., personal computers, the internet, cell phones, and cable TV in my area didn't exist(at least in the forms as we know them.) I've always had a hard time dealing with a lot of the new technology.

I think my username and new signature just aged me!:D

Save your money and don't buy any of them then. I'm sure you wouldn't play any of them, no matter how scary you may find them.

Buy some more movies instead. VHS of course.

I've played both and LOVE both, though I think I enjoyed the Silent Hill games more.

Ah, VHS...Gone but not forgotten. There's one sad thing about technological progress and the evolution of our movie watching formats...There are a lot of low-budget, independent and really obscure films that were put on VHS that are never going to be transferred to DVD, and this is particularly sad because many of them are horror films.:(

I hesitated for a long time joining this forum in order to ask questions and make comments. I feared I would do nothing but complain about the current state of Hollywood and the motion picture business and particularly the caliber of horror films that are coming out. I better quit right now................

Have you tried Eternal Darkness on the Game Cube? I think that deserves to be mentioned among the scariest horror games.

There are several good horror games out on modern computers, Fatal Frame is one, Forbidden Siren, Silent Hill, for a while horror was really popular. My recommendation if you want to see if you like modern video gaming is to get a Playstation 2, it is right in that phase where it is cheap at the moment. It have been passed out by the current generation consoles, but it is still not collectible. You should be able to get a Playstation 2 and some decent games relatively cheaply and then you can see if you like it. If you do then you can pick up a PS3 or a Xbox 360, but there is no point in spending allot on a machine before you know if it is something you would like.
