Upcoming Movies Based on Video Games

Mortal Kombat: Devastation

Supposed to release in 2010, with Christopher Lambert(?) due to return as Lord Rayden, Robin Shou as Liu Kang, and Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage. Going in for total renovation, and not linked to either prequels of the franchise.

Hitman

Timothy Olyphant will be playing Agent 47, due to be released late this year/early next year. Vin Diesel dropped out due to production problems.

Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run

The Rock lends his voice to the character of Alex Decker, due to be released in mid 2009. John Woo(?) directs. Rumored to have one of the most vicious villains of the screen.

Resident Evil: Extinction

Releasing on 21st Sept 2007, with Milla Jovovich returning as Alice and joined by Ali Larter as Claire. Trailer can be seen here.

The Suffering

Benecio Del Toro is being finalised to play the lead, with release due sometime in 2009.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Scheduled to hit the screens in fall 2008, co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and being released by Disney, with Charlie Clausen playing the Prince. Another POTC in the making? Wait and watch.

Max Payne

Originally scheduled to hit the screens by summer 2007, production has been put on hold. No further news.

Postal

Uwe (read "eew") Boll directs, releasing in summer 2007. If you wanna watch the trailer, its right here and here and here. Good Luck.

Halo

This Peter Jackson production is due to released somewhere in mid/late 2008. It has been postponed indefinitely due to financial problems.

Fear Effect

Another of Uwe Boll's productions, directed by Stanley Tong. Rumors have it that Boll has detached himself from the movie, scheduled to be released in fall 2008. Good news or bad?

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

Uwe Boll directs and produces. A huge star-cast. Will it work this time? You decide. Trailer is right here.

Cold Fear

Initially announced, but no further news as of yet.

Castlevania

Scheduled to be released in 2009, with Jonathan Frakes attached to this Paul W. Anderson movie.

Far Cry

Yet another Uwe Boll production, with Michael Paré roped in and scheduled to be released in late 2008. The game was awesome, but the movie...?

Alice

Based on "American McGee's Alice", with Sarah Michelle Gellar playing Alice, and being directed by Marcus Nispel. Due to hit the theaters by fall 2008.

Tekken

Releasing in summer 2009. Jessica Alba has been approached to play the role of Christie. Directed by Dwight Little of "Halloween 4" fame. Thats about it.

Splinter Cell: The Movie

Due to be released by summer/mid 2010. Produced and being written by Tom Clancy himself. Still no idea who would play Sam Fisher yet.

Clock Tower

Scheduled to be released in 2008 too. Rumors abound that Hillary Duff is playing the lead. Hopefully they are wrong, or the movie is dead already.

Driver

Due to be out by mid/late 2008, and being directed by Roger Avary of "Silent Hill" fame. Paul W. Anderson supposedly produces, and Nicholas Cage is supposed to play the lead.

I've read somewhere talks about Condemned: Criminal Origins, I don't know if it was rumors but I'll search for it and post back about it. I was looking forward to seeing the Halo movie also, I'm a big fan of the games.

Wow thank you for that nicely compiled list, __V__. I am waiting to see Spy Hunter and Resident Evil Extinction. Some more of those films listed sound good too.
