Masters of Giallo

Just wanted to let the folks at Horror.Com know that Arrow Films kick off their Masters of Giallo series from Monday (29/06/09).

Here's the blurb:

True horror fans prepare to rejoice! The undead spirit of the "video nasty" and some of the best examples of Italian exploitation cinema are about to be raised from the grave and reborn on DVD courtesy of Arrow Video's forthcoming Masters of Giallo imprint.

The first bloody batch, hitting the shelves on 29th June 2009, gives a much-welcomed new lease of life to three of the genre's most revered classics – Lucio Fulci's THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY, Lamberto Bava's MACABRE and Dario Argento's SLEEPLESS. Released completely uncut on DVD for the first time in the UK, each film comes with an unholy host of brand new extras, along with two-sided sleeve inserts featuring all-new, specially commissioned exploitation artwork plus the film's original release artwork.

Finally paying these movies their due respects after far too long, these releases are everything an insatiably hungry horror fan could ask for. As a special bonus, each release also comes complete with a poster featuring the brand new art.

Enjoy the trailer reel: http://onlinemoviepromo.com/newplayer.php?id=3042

I do a lot of promo stuff for DVD releases, but it's always good when I get to promote Italian horror flicks.

Well, it looks pretty cool!

How bout a link to your website so we can check out the extras- they flashed by so fast in that trailer I have no idea what's included.

All the details are up on Retroslashers here:

We're doing a lot of PR for it via Cultlabs, but that's a forum thread and it seems a little churlish to post on a good forum then send people to another one!

The more Eurotrash Post-Apocalyptic weirdness they can release on DVD the better.

I was a kid during the 80s and my local video store didn't have many scruples when it came to renting Italian trash to impressionable kids. I loved all that sub-Mad Max/Warriors stuff.

They are showing some movies at The GFT as part of the launch for this. House by the cemetry, Macabre and Cut and Run. I think I will go see Cut and Run on Sunday, Ruggero Deodato is doing a Q and A after the screening.

Sounds like a great idea! By the way, I recently went into giallo overdrive on my radio show Danse Macabre and you can pick up some of my notes here and here. :)
