Hey Guys,
I've been playing Fallout 3 pretty much non-stop lately and it's frozen twice on me over the past couple of days. I'll be playing and then suddenly the game, screen, et al will just freeze. Even if I eject the disc, the screen is still frozen on the TV. I have to physically get up and restart the XBOX. Actually happened today today during the Final Fight. :( Has anyone experienced similar problems? I'm going to do some Google-researching, but I wanted to know if any of you were having similar issues and if there's something I can/should do to fix it. I hope that this isn't a sign of something much, much worse. :( |

There could be a bunch of reasons.Could be the disc or just a random thing.I've had it happen to me a few times on that game as well.I doubt it's your xbox since you haven't had it that long.Just make sure you keep dust away from it and it a well ventilated place.

Sounds like a problem of heating up.
Keep the console on a place where it is free on all sides, even below. Do not place it on a cloth or support of any kind, which might muffle the base. It works best when its kept on top of a glass-top or a table, with some gap between it and the surface.

My xbox broke twice within the year, if there's one thing ive learned, keep it upright, like a tower. All those vent holes gather dust and screw it up.

Thanks, guys.
Yeah, oddly enough, Fallout 3 is the only game that it's locked up on. Then again, that's the only game that I've been playing lately. Freak - Was that the only game that froze up on you? Funny you say that, Mothman; I actually just turned it horizontal on its side (because I was playing a DVD and it started making a scary RRRRRRRRRRRRR sound - of course, now that I have it horizontal, my game freezes :( ). Do you have a similar issue playing DVDs when you have it vertical? I agree with you, V too - I think that if I turn it back vertical again, it'll probably be better ventilated. |

Do not put it vertical.I repeat DO NOT PUT IT VERTICAL.It will cause scratches on your discs. That is the biggest mistake a person can make.
I've had mine freeze a few time but mostly on Fallout.

Ahh, see, that was exactly the reason why I put it horizontal in the first place. At least I'm not ENTIRELY crazy for doing that.

Exactly! I've had to take games back to the store, because they were so scratched, I couldn't play it. They thought I did it, and I had to explain that it wasn't vertical standing.
