new gender of horror
OK I just watch Mr. Halloween and on called last house in the woods. from the Ghost House Underground. Witht these and Camp Slaughter A whole bunch there seems to be a gender of horror from 1998 till now of BAD LOW BUDGET HORROR. I am getting tired of them myself. As my wife said " We should stick to the classics". What so youall think of these movies

Mr. Halloween, Last House in the Woods, AND Camp Slaughter look terrible. You don't have to stick to the classics just have an idea of what might interest you or what might be a decent watch. If you need help I've always liked Arrow in the Head over at www.joblo.com but there are plenty of other review sites out there including our Last Seen Movie thread where you can get a feel for some flicks. If you stuck to the classics you'd have missed Fido right?

What is this new gender? Besides male & female I don't know of any other genders.
And guess what- bad low budget horror films have existed since they started making films. |

i guess II could have called it gentre. Its just these really really bad scripted bad acting movies that are divingme up the wall lately. oh well, but you can put dead and rotting on the list as well. Its different in time though like in the 80's movies like Creepers and Blood diner, Night of the comet are good.

Cheap HD video cameras and the ability to use "professional" editing software on any half-decent PC does make the cost of entry a lot cheaper than in the days of film and editing labs.
However, as Neverending said, there has always been low-budget crap. It's just as time goes on, they tend to be forgotten. As will a lot of today's low-buget crap. The good stuff will be remembered and in 30 years' time, people will be saying the same thing when comparing their own contemporary films to ours. |

Modern low-budget horror... I agree with NE. There will always be the awful ones, but there are the promising ones as well.
To keep on the subject of Ghost House Underground flicks, the boyfriend and I just watched Dance of the Dead and I have to say, I was actually pretty impressed. ![]() It was a fantastic little nod to the zombie genre, obviously paying homage to films like Return of the Living Dead. Not a perfect film by any means, but definitely entertaining. I was also fairly impressed by a couple of the films to come out of last year's After Dark Horrorfest: Crazy Eights - Fantastic little ghost movie Borderland - creepy haunting abduction movie Mulberry Street - Sickness/monster movie All of them are low-budget, but all of them certainly are worthy of merit. Another little horror gem that I've mentioned before is Murder Party. COMPLETELY without funding, but very smart, funny, with some delightful gore at the end. The Signal is one of the best movies that I've seen this year - brilliant low-budget horror. There will ALWAYS be bad low-budget horror films. I've found that, as a horror fan, you have an unspoken agreement with the horror film industry; if you go into a film knowing NOTHING about it, there's about a 70% chance that it's going to just be God-awful. I understand that. But there will always be the ones that are worth it. Check out some of the ones above when you get a chance. Last edited by ChronoGrl; 10-24-2008 at 11:10 AM. |

First of all, what language is he speaking. Second, I thought Angela from Sleepaway Camp was the new gender in horror.
