Who will take thier place????

Hi new member here. I have been thinking which is usually not a good thing. Back in the last Century, there were huge stars such as Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Both Lon Chaney Sr. & Jr., Bela Lugosi, and to some extent Peter Lorre, Peter Cushing, and Christopher Lee. When you heard thier names you immediately thought of Horror movies. And the voices, I mean Vincent Price and Boris Karloff could recite Nursery Rhymes and make them seem creepy.

But in trying to think of who the "new Stars" are who might fill the old Horror Master’s shoes I got nothing. There are no movie stars that come close to these giants in Horror. The closest I could come was maybe Anthony Hopkins in his Hannibal Lector role and Robert Englund for his Freddy Kruger role but these are only two characters. The Greats played many characters in many movies and even TV. Anyone have any thoughts on who the new horror stars might be?

Kane Hodder
Katherine Isabelle
Bill Moseley
Sheri Moon

All of these people have been in at least 3 horror films. That's all I can think of right now.

Kane Hodder ? nice guy - i met the man ..
but you've never seen his face ! He was a stunt man ..

I understand the origional posters point .. there arent any SOLID greats like in the golden years of horror.

Bruce Campbell is the closest thing ..and even then .. he's all about camp.

I think the reason you'll never see this happen again is because of the dynamics - they've changed for horror.

Its all about the teen market now .. and the kids that star in these shows come and go

There were certain character actors that got used a lot - Richard Lynch, Billy Drago ... but even they grew too old for the horror demographic today and are stuck playing gangsters in direct to video grade z movies - and they didnt have the class or stature the golden oldies had.

I honestly cant see anyone today even close to people of the stature of a Christopher Lee, etc .. and i cant see the environment where they could exist happening in the forseeable future.

Good points urge. Another thing is I don't think actors of today want to get
type-cast in any certain genre.

well, there were the scream queens .. more notably in the 80's - 90's

They were so-so actresses who could scream and werent afraid to show a lot of t&a ..

They are recognizable as modern horror semi-icons ... but this is not the same stature as the guys we're talking about.

Thinking of Linnea Quigley as a star makes me wanna puke. She did have nice "assets" though.

I know what you mean about the times changing. Horror isn't the same as it used to be.

I don't think we are ever going to see any more stars of horror films. Most actors don't want to be type cast and Most people these days are more intrested in CGI effects than actual acting..I think thats why most of the big budget horror and sci-fi films lack any really good charcters, because actors are secondary to the effects. And when a good low budget movie is made the cast and crew quickly move on to more "Serious" types of films.
