Once you sign up, it takes a few days to get your invite, and then you have to keep using that special link from the email to get in, which is annoying.

I know the website is in beta, but it could use a lot of work. A lot of stuff is not functional or buggy (Android app link doesn't work on mobile, History doesn't save what you watched, or sometimes it all gets deleted). The usability is pretty bad in some ways (for instance, after paging through several pages in the Browse list, then selecting an item, then if you go back to Browse, it doesn't remember where you left off, and you have to page through all over again from the beginning).

Some of the look and feel is pretty cool, like the art and quotes at the bottom of each page. Some of it just looks like they're trying too hard, or is distracting. I'm not a huge fan of their ten thousand "Collections", each with like 6 movies in it. But it's fun to explore.

At any rate, the most important thing is content, and the ability to play it. The content is pretty good. Better than Screambox (which I developed). Playback on the web is not bad, but not having a mobile or Roku app is inconvenient. I used a Chrome browser on my laptop to cast to my Chromecast on my TV and it worked pretty well.

I think this service has a lot of promise, given AMC's track record and name recognition. I'd rather Screambox succeed since I played a big part in it (although I don't get any ongoing benefits other that pride in my work and a free account). In the end though, I just want to watch horror movies, and Shudder might be a good way to supplement that.
