My remarks:

-I was intrigued at first by the origin story. The stones, the cave, the books,... Could have been great: old village, ancient evil,...

-Some things don't make sense:
-Leprechaun is angry over stolen gold so he needs human sacrifices until the debt is repaid?
-Leprechaun tries to sneak on people as they approach the house, at this time the sun is still up. After that the Leprechaun decides to wait till it's nighttime before he tries again.
-Dad guy mentions it came to the village in the past. Why didn't they just kill it? You'd think a group of men with shotguns would do the trick.
No, you'll need an American girl with a machete for that.
-About a dozen leprechauns are seen in the grass at the end.
Where were they during the rest of the movie?

I think they were trying to keep it more mysterious like in Alien.
You get a good view of the creature in the end.
Leprechaun-vision was dumb indeed.
