Ah, exactly the way to pitch it to prospective producers, "The mainstream audiences weren't interested in the first two films, so we're going keep it the same! Whatayasay?! Invest your money for arts sake?!"

On the contrary, Fear, if ya don't mind me saying, in the context of the foreign film horror market, mainstream audiences were interested. A 81% approval rating from some 50k audience votes on Rottentomatoes.com. This Spanish made film hit the mainstream purse, and they will milk it until it's dry.

It's worse for me. I saw the first Rec about a year ago with a pal... very enthusiastic to see one of 'the best horror films of the 2000s'. I really didn't care for REC. Thought the story/plot/characters were very shallow (not to mention the "foreigners" insultingly portrayed). I didn't find the story directing/cinematography particularly exciting or original. Neither did my buddy.

I'm glad people really enjoyed it. I just don't get the attraction. Naturally I won't be bothering with the other 3 films. I thought Blair Witch & Cloverfield were far superior found footage films; I don't have a problem with the premise/technique.
