Mothra isn't my favorite either. But no, Gamera has never been in a story with Godzilla and is not apart of that mythos.
I just finished watching the 90's trilogy and it's really good. The 3rd movie Gamera: Revenge Of Iris is considered to be the best giant monster movie since the original Godzilla. I personally don't know if I would go that far, but the series was extremely well done. The effects were by far some of the best I have ever seen in a Kaiju film. I think you would dig these films.
