Quite possibly Ken Russell's best work, even better than The Devils, IMO. Fans of El Topo and other Jodorowsky works would love this one. Watch it after midnight, when the sounds of the living world have died down, and have your speakers set to surround mode. You will love the experience, if you are a surreal film fan like me.
