Ugh. Talk about obnoxious. I don't have many horror t-shirts (I have an awesome Dawn of the Dead shirt which unfortunately has disappeared mysteriously :(), but I was wearing a Gogol Bordello shirt at my friend's house a year or so ago and her Mom definitely disapproved (mind you,
it was just a brown polo with their logo on it) - Gave me dirty looks when her uncle asked what the t-shirt was for and I explained that it was one of my favorite bands, their type of music, etc...
Anyway - I don't really understand snap judgment like that. It's a friggin' t-shirt. Mind you, if say I was wearing said t-shirt to a black tie formal event, sure, I get that, but when I'm lounging around and just doing my thing, don't give me looks for what I'm wearing. People are so shallow. Same issue that we've discussed before with tattoos. Grrrr.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand...
Being a die-hard horror fan, I have a hard time having a casual conversation with the casual horror viewer at, say, work or somewhere like that... The other day at work in a conference room with about 10 people and I got the question, "What's the scariest horror movie you've ever seen?" Naturally, as a dorky horror fan I can never "just" answer that question point blank... I responded with:
"Well, what do you mean? Like suspenseful scary? Or incredibly disturbing?"
Or course they said, "Incredibly disturbing," to which I answered, "
Martyrs."
Of course, everyone in the room started looking up the movie Martyrs, reading reviews, looking at images, and then just looked at me... horrified.
Yep, that was kinda awkward. A couple of days later one of the girls said that I "gave her nightmares" just by inspiring her to look it up.
Sigh.
This is why I'm a member of a board like this one - Can't do casual horror conversations anymore.
