The rules of a fourth installment in a series? Nah, it more follows the rules of a reboot. Naturally, I call it a reboot, and I'm fully aware of the term being correct, but the hell I'm calling it a 'fourth installment in a series which was suspected to end 10 years ago but the actors and actresses decided it would be fun to do it again, this time for a new generation'.
Anyway, we can go back-and-forth like this all night or we can just stop it here ;) .

I'm not trying to fight, its just a discussion. To be honest one of the reasons i started to dislike the films after the first one was because of the characters constantly following the rules as you said. It was new and original for the first one but it started to become gimmicky as time went on and the fourth movie practically breaks the fourth wall doing it and it basically becomes a parody. If you want to call it a reboot, who am i to argue with you. I just stated my opinion on the matter.
