I think he started off at the top of his game and has been going downhill since then, kind of like M. Night Shamalayan (or however you spell that).
I didn't much like his Halloween films, I thought House of 1,000 Corpses was brilliant and Devil's Rejects a respectable sequel. I think he has a lot of potential to be unleasehed and we'll see more great work from him. Then again, a lot of modern horror directors started really strong and never reached the heights of their early offerings again- Carpenter, Dante, Hooper, Romero...
