Question for everyone on the forum.

Not doing this to shit-stir the forum...it might do though?
I'm just personally interested and please, I'm not starting this to incite fighting or to start people making nasty comments to each other, and/or members of past or present.
I've recently been informed that V has stood down as a moderator.
He has advised me in no specific detail that this is a result of his unbanning of ElvisChrist who had a permanent banning on his status.
While I'm not sure about this and just going on speculation, my assumption is that the subsequent banning of wufongtan was also his work.
I don't need to say where I stand on these two actions.

I'd just like to know, from the general forum if:
*You feel either/both of these courses of action were reasonable, and to what extent?
*Should moderators here be *able* to act outside the standard "t&c" if things occur that constantly lead to eventual breakdowns or breaches in the t&c?
In other words should they have the right to make a judgment call every once in a while,(within reason of course) and simply act, where they believe it to be the good of the site/majority of the site?
*If a moderator is contradicted, repremanded or even having second feelings about such a course of action - Should there be a panel, either made up of the moderators themselves or posters from a variety of ages, backgrounds, post counts, to consider the situation and either "keep things fair" or assist the moderation where they can, to at very least offer advice and/or keep things in check and impartial?
While I'm sure in some matters, certain decisions would be unanimous, in others they could provide valuable varying perspectives.

So that's all I wanted to throw out there.
I'd appreciate everyone stepping in to say their part - Again, keep it respectful.
