It all began with the wedding of the millennium.
"My dear Urgeok,
I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am about this. You HAVE to come!"
Urgeok folded the piece of paper with a quiet smile, then looked at the invitation. He carefully checked the dates and picked up his Blackberry, checking his calendar.
Almost immediately, it started ringing.
"Yes, MissMacabre?"
"You got the invitation too?" MissMacabre's tone was unusually bright and chirpy.
"Yeah, I am holding it right now."
"Well, are you thinking of attending?"
"I might. Depends on if I am free at that moment."
"Hmm...if you decide to, then let's go together. Kentucky is a long way off, and I don't want to go alone."
"Of course. Rayne and Dude will be expecting us to be there. I am making some space in my calendar as we speak."
MissMacabre hung up and looked at The Return.
"He's going!"
"Postman!"
The call shook Ferretchucker out of his thoughts. He was wondering if he was as good as Doc Faustus to be able to publish his own horror novel someday.
He got up and went to the door. The postman handed him a big, red-colored invitation and asked him to sign for it. As soon as he was gone, Ferret opened it excitedly. He raced through the contents and grinned to himself.
He ran to his cellphone and started texting.
"Zwoti, you won't believe this!..."
Zwoti read the text and shook his head. Naive little kid, he thought, glancing at the invitation on his table.
"Darling, I am home!"
Spallalala looked out from the kitchen and smiled. Cheebacheeba walked in and sat down on the couch heavily.
"Long day?" Spa asked inquiringly.
Cheeba looked up. "Sure as hell it was," he mumbled then starting sifting through the mail.
Spa looked back from the dish she was preparing. "Anything interesting?"
"One." He was starting at the red-colored invitation in his hands.
In another part of the world, a huge trailer truck carrying several barrels marked "Hazardous Toxic Waste Chemicals! Radiation Warning! Stay Clear!" was about to overturn.
